The royal saga of deceit, scheming, ruthlessness, and backstabbing continues with the third installment of the Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster franchise. This time around, the story gets a lot more complicated and the stakes are at an all-time high. It’s a story of survival and the race to acquire wealth, power and women. Each character has its own ulterior motive and each one is as ruthless as the other. These power hungry people from the royal family will not stop at anything to get what they want and the things they desire. When their paths cross, it becomes a game of survival where the only rule is to cheat, deceive and backstab.
The story catches up with the life of royal couple – his highness Aditya Pratap Singh (Jimmy Sheirgill), the Saheb, and Queen Madhavi Devi (Mahie Gill), the Biwi. Saheb is incarcerated, but that does not take away his shrewdness and cunning. The Biwi is politically well connected and she is making her own plans to get what she wants. However, it won’t be easy, as Gangster Kabir aka Baba (Sanjay Dutt) wants a piece of the action. When their paths cross, things start getting nasty. There are shades of good and bad in each character, which makes it difficult to decide who will win the war in the end. This royal unpredictability is one of the things that keeps the audience engaged.
Director and co-writer Tigmanshu Dhulia has done well to add a layer of suspense to the proceedings. He has also introduced new insights about the characters, which is interesting to watch. Mahie Gill as the Queen gets the major share of the script and she effortlessly pulls off a multifaceted character. The next lead role is that of the Saheb, wherein Jimmy Sheirgill has done a remarkable job yet again. Sanjay Dutt as the Gangster has the firepower, but the royalty is missing from his character. Other actors including Chitrangada Singh, Kabir Bedi, Nafisa Ali and Deepak Tijori have also delivered good performances.
Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 successfully carries on with the legacy of its predecessors. There are new twists and surprises that will keep you thrilled all throughout the movie.
